aspx site image nov 2015Boulder, CO – Registration for the competitive and prestigious student coding competition Windward Code Wars is now open. The 2016 Code Wars — one of the top student hackathon competitions in the world — is accepting student and university registrations.

On February 6, 2016, the best and brightest computer science college students from around the world once again will be competing for the title of Code Wars Champion. Sponsored by reporting and document generation expert Windward Studios, the artificial intelligence competition is an international contest to see which team can write the best code. Students race against the clock and one another to analyze a problem, write a solution, and test and debug it. After the 8-hour programming deadline, teams go head to head.

“This is a battle for school pride, bragging rights and to see which school has the most awesome programming students,” said David Thielen, CEO of Windward. “The students are the best of the best and are so into programming they crave spending a Saturday writing code for the pure intellectual challenge.”

The contest is free for students and their schools, and they compete for prizes such as free laptops and software from leading developers. Students get many benefits from Code Wars, including:

  • Socialization, teamwork and networking. Students get all this and more in the day-long competition.
  • A team-programming environment. That’s how it works in Code Wars, and that’s how it often works in real life.
  • More impressive resumes. Code Wars is an extracurricular activity, a competition, an award and coding experience all rolled into one package.
  • Fun! Because there’s no way to prepare in advance, there’s less impact on schoolwork and a busy schedule.

Past competitors include Boston University, Brown University, Carnegie Mellon University, College of William and Mary, Colorado College, Colorado School of Mines, Colorado State University, Columbia University, Computer Science Center – Saint Petersburg, Georgia Institute of Technology, Harvey Mudd College, Hendrix College, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Michigan Tech, Penn State, Princeton University, Purdue University, Saint Petersburg State University, Stanford University, UC San Diego, United States Military Academy, University of Alberta, University of Central Florida, University of Chicago, University of Colorado, University of Illinois, University of Maryland, University of Massachusetts, University of Pennsylvania, University of Toronto, University of Victoria and University of Wisconsin.
